On Friday afternoon, a severe motorcycle accident occurred on Woodward Avenue at the intersection near the American Legion. The rider involved, Dave Mader, was traveling with his wife behind him on her motorcycle, when a vehicle crossed traffic in front of him, leaving no time to avoid a collision.

According to his wife, who was directly behind Dave, he attempted to brake hard — so forcefully that the rear of his motorcycle began to lift — but impact was unavoidable. Dave struck the side of the car, was thrown over the handlebars, hit the car, and landed face-first on the roadway. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Dave remained unresponsive for several minutes following the impact. When he regained consciousness, he was disoriented and unaware of what had happened.

Emergency responders transported him to Williamsport Hospital, where initial scans and X-rays were taken. Due to the severity of facial injuries, he was later transferred to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for specialized care.

Dave sustained multiple serious injuries, including: • Fractured eye socket • Multiple fractures in the cheekbone • Two fractures in the jaw • Broken collarbone • Fractured shoulder blade • A broken right hand, now in a cast He underwent a 7-hour surgery to repair facial and jaw fractures.

As of now, Dave remains in the ICU at Geisinger, with a potential transfer to a regular hospital room anticipated soon. His discharge date is still unknown as he continues recovery.
